Museum of Emotions

Project Description
For this project, we worked in teams to design conceptual spaces based on two opposing emotions. My partner and I chose Depression and Euphoria, using a revolving darkroom door as the transition point between the two spaces to symbolize the abrupt shifts between mania and depression.
I focused on themes of brokenness, darkness, and repetition through the ideation process. Shattered mirrors reflect the disconnection one can feel from their own identity, while hanging installations symbolize the overwhelming weight of intrusive thoughts. The use of cold subway tiles across all surfaces reinforces the cold, repetitive and confining nature of depression.
One of my key illustrations depicts a hand reaching toward sad eyes, only to be pulled away as there's nothing left to grasp for. Additionally, I placed mirrors on opposite walls facing each other, creating an infinite reflection effect that visually represents hopelessness and entrapment. Each element in the space was intentionally designed to convey the extreme depth of emotion that a depressive state can lead to.
My partner focused on created a space portraying euphoria. She used opposing elements to create a stark contrast as one transitions between spaces.
