Project Description
My group's boutique healthcare facility, The Ohio State Wexner Wellness Center, integrates the principles of biophilia into both general care and mental health and wellness practices. Alongside traditional medical spaces, our facility includes a multi-purpose wellness room designed for events, classes, yoga, and other enriching community activities. The environment is intended to promote holistic healing and rejuvenation, with a particular focus on the wellbeing of the aging population. Embracing the innate connection between humans and nature, our design incorporates biophilia and biomimicry to enhance sensory experiences while also prioritizing cleanliness and safety in our medical spaces.
The space that I designed was the Wellness Center waiting room. Taking inspiration from existing Wexner facilities, I chose clean, modern design elements and subtle Ohio State branding. The chosen materials are CFFA certified and bleach cleanable for the health and safety of the patients.
